Churn at private banks' finance function, 2 CFOs quit

A significant reshuffle is underway in the finance departments of major Indian banks. Axis Bank and Bandhan Bank have seen their Chief Financial Officers resign, sparking speculation about future leadership. This follows another high-profile departure from HDFC Bank. Industry insiders suggest a potential move for one CFO to HDFC Bank, while another might step into the Axis Bank role, creating an unusual churn ahead of financial results.

Bandhan Bank raises FD rates by up to 20 basis points

Bandhan Bank has boosted fixed deposit interest rates by up to 20 basis points, with senior citizens now earning a competitive 7.95% on select tenures. This move comes as other banks also adjust their deposit offerings, even with the RBI holding the repo rate steady. The bank aims to attract more retail deposits with these revised, attractive rates.

RBI should start rate hike cycle as inflation risks rise, says Bandhan MF’s Suyash Choudhary

Average inflation forecasts are likely to move higher, and the RBI should begin the rate hike cycle to maintain its credibility as an inflation-focused central bank, according to Suyash Choudhary, CIO-Fixed Income at Bandhan Mutual Fund. However, he believes rate hikes alone may not immediately solve the problem. He said the RBI must avoid mixed messaging to prevent market uncertainty and added that a favourable mix of global factors — including lower oil prices, better foreign inflows, and a weaker dollar — could help improve the situation.
