Rs 5 lakh crore wealth boost! Top 5 factors fuelling today's 800-point Sensex rally

Indian stock markets experienced significant gains on Friday, with Sensex and Nifty rising over one percent. Strong first-quarter earnings from TCS boosted investor sentiment, leading IT stocks higher. Positive global market trends and a decline in market volatility also contributed to the rally. Despite escalating Iran-US tensions, markets largely ignored the geopolitical developments. Analysts anticipate continued economic resilience and positive sector-specific responses moving forward.

But experts warn the road ahead won't be that simple.

Office space leasing in India's top eight cities saw a 14.5% year-on-year dip in Q2 2026, absorbing 11.6 million sq ft. Despite global economic uncertainties, demand remains strong, particularly from Global Capability Centres (GCCs) which leased 16.5 million sq ft in H1 2026. Flexible workspace operators also recorded their highest-ever half-yearly volume. Vacancy levels have fallen to post-pandemic lows, driving rental growth across major markets.

Auto companies stick to fast lane in pay hikes, too

Expect substantial salary increases in India's auto sector, with average hikes projected at 10.3% in 2026, surpassing the general corporate average. This boost is driven by strong vehicle sales and favorable government policies. Despite global uncertainties, companies are rewarding top performers while managing budgets carefully. Attrition rates are also anticipated to decrease as talent mobility slows.
