SC junks plea against green nod for Adani MP project
The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition challenging forest land diversion for an Adani group coal mining project in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. The court also rejected a plea against the Madhya Pradesh government's approval. An activist had sought to declare the area an eco-sensitive zone, citing its importance as an elephant corridor and a biodiverse forest.
Closing Bell: Sensex, Nifty end flat amid volatility; pharma, oil & gas gain, media falls
Bharat Electronics, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki were among major gainers on the Sensex, while losers were Power Grid Corporation, Trent, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and Eternal. Among sectors, auto, pharma, oil & gas, PSU Bank telecom, metal added 0.4-1%, while media index shed 0.7%. Nifty Midcap index rose 0.6%, while smallcap index ended flat.

Adani Ports, Interglobe Aviation, Wipro, NTPC and Hindalco are among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers are Tata Consumer, Max Healthcare, JSW Steel, SBI Life Insurance, Axis Bank.
Closing Bell: Nifty above 23,100, Sensex gain 509 pts; IT, metal, realty shine
Biggest Nifty gainers were Wipro, Hindalco Industries, HCL Technologies, TCS, Infosys, while losers included Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Adani Enterprises, Interglobe Aviatoion, Apollo Hospitals, Adani Ports. Except Consumer Durables and PSU Bank, all other sectoral indices ended in the green with Information Technology rose 2.5%, Metal index gained 1.5%, Realty index up 1.7% and Media index jumped 1%. The Nifty midcap index was up 0.3 percent, while smallcap index ended flat.
