Delhi High Court rules BSNL/MTNL absorbed DoT employees not eligible for 7th CPC pension revision
Delhi High Court has ruled against pension revision for former DoT employees absorbed into BSNL/MTNL under the 7th Central Pay Commission. The court clarified that these individuals, governed by Rule 37A of pension rules, are subject to PSU pay structures and the Industrial Dearness Allowance regime, not Central Pay Commission recommendations. This decision overturns a previous CAT order.

DoT drafts spectrum assignment rules for BSNL, satellite and broadcasting firms; NGSO players excluded
New draft rules from the Department of Telecommunications will allow administrative spectrum assignment for state-run firms like BSNL and MTNL, law enforcement, and private satellite/broadcasting companies. These rules specifically apply to geostationary orbit (GSO) satellite users, including VSAT and teleport operators, with spectrum fees set at 3-4% of adjusted gross revenue. Non-GSO players like Starlink are awaiting separate pricing and approval processes.
MTNL rises as net loss narrows to Rs 307 crore in Q4 FY26
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) added 1.21% to Rs 29.22 after the company's consolidated net loss reduced to Rs 306.95 crore in Q4 FY26 from a net loss of Rs 827.88 crore posted in Q4 FY25.

MTNL fails to deposit interest on sovereign guarantee bonds in escrow account
As per the structured payment mechanism of Tri-Partite Agreement (TPA) signed among MTNL, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Beacon Trusteeship Limited, the telecom company has to fund the semi-annual interest into the escrow account maintained in Bank of India with an adequate amount 10 days before the due date, which in this case is March 24, 2026.
