India plans to cut reliance on Middle East oil, tap spot market after war shock

India's state refiners are pivoting away from Middle Eastern oil contracts following the Iran war's supply disruptions. They plan to boost spot market purchases and forge deals with trading houses for diversified sourcing. This strategic shift aims to secure energy supplies and mitigate losses, with new avenues opening from Guyana, Brazil, and the US. The nation is also building strategic reserves to enhance energy security.

The combined market valuation of 6 of the top-10 most valued companies went up by Rs 88,678.1 crore in a holiday-shortened last week, with ICICI Bank emerging as the biggest winner. Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 297.57 points, or 0.38 per cent, and the NSE Nifty went up by 42.9 points, or 0.17 per cent. "Markets ended the holiday-shortened week with modest gains, advancing in three of the four trading sessions. While Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finance and Larsen & Toubro were the gainers, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and Hindustan Unilever faced erosion from their valuation. Govt mobilises nearly ₹2,100 cr via share sale of state-owned IRFC

The government on Thursday said it has raised around Rs 2,100 crore from the share sale of state-owned Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC). The OFS for IRFC closed with an enthusiastic response from the retail investors, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) Secretary Arunish Chawla said in a post on X. "Combined with the institutional investors, 22.88 crore shares were sold to the minority shareholders over the two trading days for an estimated amount of Rs 2,084 crore. We thank all investors for their participation and for reposing their faith in us," he said. The government decided to exercise the green shoe option on Wednesday, allowing 2 per cent stake dilution in the public sector undertaking (PSU) of the Railway Ministry. The Department had fixed a floor price of Rs 91 per share, at a discount of 7.8 per cent over Tuesday's closing price of IRFC shares on the BSE. Shares of IRFC closed 0.8 per cent lower at Rs 91.78 on the BSE on Thursday. Prio

Mcap of 4 most valued firms erodes by ₹1 trn, SBI biggest laggard

The combined market valuation of four of the top-10 most valued firms eroded by Rs 1 lakh crore last week, with State Bank of India taking the biggest hit, amid a range-bound trend in equities. Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 414.69 points or 0.53 per cent, and the NSE Nifty went up by 178.6 points or 0.74 per cent. "Indian equity markets witnessed a volatile and range-bound week, with sentiment remaining cautious despite intermittent recovery attempts. Mcap of 4 most valued firms surges by ₹2.20 trn, Reliance biggest winner

The combined market valuation of four of the top-10 most valued firms surged by Rs 2.20 lakh crore in a holiday-shortened last week, with Reliance Industries emerging as the biggest gainer. Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 249.29 points or 0.32 per cent. "Markets ended the week with marginal gains, reflecting a volatile and range-bound trading environment amid mixed global and domestic cues," Ajit Mishra SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said. The week began on a positive note, supported by easing geopolitical tensions and steady progress in Q4 earnings, which lifted initial sentiment, he said. However, gains were gradually capped by rising crude oil prices, weak cues from Asian markets, and persistent foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows, Mishra added. While Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Bajaj Finance were the gainers from the pack, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever and

Exit polls predict edge to BJP in West Bengal & Assam. How will stock market react tomorrow?

Exit polls suggest a BJP edge in West Bengal and Assam, potentially influencing market trading. While state election outcomes can impact regional policy and specific sectors, broader market direction remains driven by macro factors like earnings, inflation, and global cues. Markets are at a crucial juncture, with selective stock movements expected rather than a broad-based rally.
