Banks are not the only villains in Nifty's 600 points crash, autos fare worse with up to 4% index fall

Auto stocks led the market decline as the Nifty plunged 600 points, with the sector falling up to 4% amid rising crude oil prices and Fed-driven macro concerns. Weak sentiment was compounded by geopolitical tensions, while banks and IT also dragged indices lower despite broader sectoral pressure.

Nifty Bank falls 11% since start of Iran-Israel war: What lies ahead?

Escalating Middle East tensions and soaring crude oil prices are significantly impacting India's banking sector, pushing the Nifty Bank index down nearly 11% in March. Concerns over rupee depreciation, rising inflation, and potential disruptions to trade routes are fueling investor worries and leading to substantial FII selloffs, creating a bearish outlook for bank stocks.

ONGC, Oil India shares outperform sector with double-digit gains in 2026. Will Iran-Israel crisis fuel more upside?

Shares of state-run ONGC and Oil India have surged in double-digits this year, outperforming the Nifty Oil & Gas index despite a sector-wide decline. Experts anticipate further upside for these upstream oil producers due to the escalating Iran-Israel crisis and potential crude oil price hikes, with a strong medium-term outlook.
