More than 360 stocks touched their 52-week low, including Hexaware Technologies, Jubilant Foodworks, Five-Star Business, C E Info Systems, Varun Beverages, Jyothy Labs, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, ITC Hotels, Lemon Tree, Trent, KPIT Technologies, Jyoti CNC Auto, Swiggy, Colgate Palmolive, Cera Sanitary, Aegis Logistics, IRCTC, among others.

Crude oil surge impact: Auto, metal shares plunge up to 4.5%; Tata Motors PV, M&M, JSW Steel lead losses
Auto stocks also remained under pressure, with all 15 constituents of the Nifty Auto index trading lower.

Among the Nifty top losers today, IndiGo stock plunged about 5.4 percent, making it the biggest decliner on the index. State Bank of India fell around 5.1 percent. Auto stocks also featured prominently among the losers.

Shares of oil marketing companies, tyre makers and other crude-linked businesses rallied on July 2 after global crude oil prices fell to a four-month low. CEAT, BPCL, HPCL, IOC, JK Tyre and other stocks gained as easing geopolitical tensions and softer oil prices lifted sentiment.

The sharp fall in crude-sensitive counters comes as oil prices surged amid the widening conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Paint companies' stocks were among the worst affected, while Tyre makers and OMCs were also weak. The selling pressure extended to aviation stocks as well.

Biggest Nifty losers were L&T, Interglobe Aviation, Adani Ports, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Adani Enterprises, while gainers included Bharat Electronics, Sun Pharma, ONGC, Dr Reddy's Labs and Hindalco. Except metals, all other sectoral indices ended lower with Auto, Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas down 2 percent each. The Nifty midcap and smallcap indices fell 1.5 percent each.

Bharat Electronics, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki were among major gainers on the Sensex, while losers were Power Grid Corporation, Trent, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and Eternal. Among sectors, auto, pharma, oil & gas, PSU Bank telecom, metal added 0.4-1%, while media index shed 0.7%. Nifty Midcap index rose 0.6%, while smallcap index ended flat.
