Stock Market LIVE Updates: Benchmark indices traded firmly higher in late morning trade on Tuesday, with the Sensex and the Nifty gaining nearly 1% each. Among sectors, except IT, all other indices are trading in the green. Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices up more than 1% each.

The Indian rupee erased all its opening gains and ended lower by 15 paise at 95.39 against the US dollar on Thursday, compared with the previous close of 95.24.

Except IT, all other sectoral indices ended in the red, with Infra, PSU Bank, Realty, Media, Oil & gas, Auto, Metal down 2-4%. Nifty Midcap and smallcap indices down 2% each. Tata Steel, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, SBI Life Insurance, L&T, JSW Steel were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers included Coal India, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Tech Mahindra.

Biggest Nifty losers were L&T, Interglobe Aviation, Adani Ports, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Adani Enterprises, while gainers included Bharat Electronics, Sun Pharma, ONGC, Dr Reddy's Labs and Hindalco. Nifty Midcap and smallcap indices down 1% each. Dr Reddy's Labs, Bharti Airtel, M&M, HDFC Life, Sun Pharma were among the top drags on the Nifty, while gainers were Trent, HCL Tech, Infosys, Apollo Hospitals. Among sectors, auto, bank, FMCG, metal, realty, telecom shed 1-2%, while IT, media, consumer durables ended in the green.
Broader markets outperform; Nifty Midcap 100 hits fresh record high
The Nifty Midcap 100 index touched a fresh record high of 62,113.85 during the week, while the Nifty Smallcap index moved closer to the 18,800 mark, trading just 2.2% below its all-time high of 19,224.95.
