Depositories can use part of IPF corpus income for trust costs
Sebi has proposed allowing depositories to use up to 5% of their investor protection fund (IPF) income for administrative and statutory expenses. This move aims to align IPF trust operations with existing stock exchange frameworks. The IPF corpus for NSDL and CDSL stood at ₹87.78 crore and ₹95.18 crore respectively as of March 31, 2026.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has appointed Niraj Bansal as its new CEO-Ports. This change will be effective from June 1. Pranav Choudhary will step down at the end of May. Bansal brings extensive experience from his previous roles, including at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust. He joined the Adani Group in October 2022.
Sebi proposes allowing depositories to use part of IPF investment income for trust expenses
At present, stock exchanges are permitted to use a maximum of 5 per cent of the interest or income generated from IPF investments for meeting expenses related to dedicated employees of the IPF Trust, administration of Investor Service Centres, and other statutory and administrative expenses such as taxes, audit fees and charity commissioner fees. However, no such provision exists for depositories.
