Tata Steel, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, SBI Life Insurance, L&T, JSW Steel were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers included Coal India, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Tech Mahindra.

Biggest Nifty losers were L&T, Interglobe Aviation, Adani Ports, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Adani Enterprises, while gainers included Bharat Electronics, Sun Pharma, ONGC, Dr Reddy's Labs and Hindalco. Except metals, all other sectoral indices ended lower with Auto, Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas down 2 percent each. The Nifty midcap and smallcap indices fell 1.5 percent each.

Taking Stock: Nifty ends above 24,200, Sensex up 1,264 points; all sectors rally
Interglobe Aviation, Max Healthcare, Power Grid Corp, Wipro, Eternal were among biggest gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank.

Momentum Stocks: Radhika Jewel, Shankara Buildpro, TCI Express gain up 10% on sheer momentum
Radhika Jewel jumped 9.8 percent to Rs 61.89, staying above its 30-day SMA (Rs 56.38) and 50-day SMA (Rs 58.47). However, the stock continued to trade below its 150-day SMA (Rs 65.21) and 200-day SMA (Rs 70.73), indicating that while short-term momentum has improved, the long-term trend remains weak.

Closing Bell: Nifty below 25,200, Sensex tanks 961 pts; realty, metal, FMCG top drag
Nifty Midcap and smallcap indices down 1% each. Dr Reddy's Labs, Bharti Airtel, M&M, HDFC Life, Sun Pharma were among the top drags on the Nifty, while gainers were Trent, HCL Tech, Infosys, Apollo Hospitals. Among sectors, auto, bank, FMCG, metal, realty, telecom shed 1-2%, while IT, media, consumer durables ended in the green.
