Gujarat builds 870 MW battery power backup network to stabilise renewable energy grid
Gujarat has launched battery storage systems totaling 870 MW across five locations to ensure renewable power grid stability. The state has also registered 13 additional projects and integrated BESS with its first solar village, Modhera. This initiative strengthens Gujarat's position as a leader in battery storage solutions in India.
GE Vernova gets order to supply 9 pumped storage units in India
GE Vernova will supply nine pumped-storage units for Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited's Upper Sileru hydropower plant in Andhra Pradesh. This 1.35-gigawatt project, expected by 2030, will be one of India's largest. Pumped storage is vital for grid stability and balancing renewable energy. GE Vernova's work includes design, manufacturing, and commissioning of the units and control systems.
Tracker-mounted solar projects give higher output than fixed-tilt systems: Study
A study by SgurrEnergy and Nextpower found that single-axis solar tracker systems in India generate 15–23% more energy than fixed-tilt installations and deliver higher efficiency across key performance metrics. The analysis, based on projects in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, showed trackers also improve capacity utilisation and performance ratios while requiring 14–18% lower installed capacity to achieve similar output.
