Mcap of 8 top valued firms jumps ₹4.13 trn; HDFC, ICICI Bank top gainers
The combined market valuation of eight of the top-10 most valued firms surged by Rs 4,13,003.23 crore last week, with HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank emerging as the biggest gainers, in tandem with an optimistic trend in equities. Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 4,230.7 points or 5.77 per cent, and the NSE Nifty surged 1,337.5 points or 5.88 per cent. "Sentiment remained buoyant amid optimism surrounding a temporary USIran ceasefire, although lingering geopolitical uncertainties capped the pace of gains as the week progressed," Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said. A sharp decline in crude oil prices below the USD 100 mark eased domestic concerns and triggered a strong rebound across markets, he added. More than 200 stocks touched their 52-week high on the BSE, including Kirloskar Oil, Aegis Logistics, New India Assurance, GNFC, HFCL, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC, Belrise Industries, AIA Engineering, Aditya Birla Capital, Sona BLW, Syrma SGS, Leela Palaces, Cemindia Projects, RBL Bank, Bharat Forge, among others.
Closing Bell: Nifty crosses 24,200, Sensex surges 1,264 pts on renewed hopes of US-Iran peace talks
Interglobe Aviation, Max Healthcare, Power Grid Corp, Wipro, Eternal were among biggest gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank. All the sectoral indices ended in the green with Capital Goods, Oil & Gas, Power, Infra, Media, Realty, Consumer Durables, IT rise 2% each. Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices up more than 2 percent each.
