At 2:18 pm, the Sensex was down 299.98 points or 0.40 percent at 74,060.03, while the Nifty slipped 110.15 points or 0.47 percent to 23,306.40. Market breadth remained weak, with 2,070 stocks declining against 1,720 advances. The Nifty Metal index dropped nearly 2 percent and Nifty IT fell over 1 percent, while broader markets also underperformed.
