Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Maruti Suzuki, Adani Ports, Bajaj Auto, HUL, Tata Consumer were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Kotak Mahindra Bank, Dr Reddy's Labs, ONGC, Eternal and Adani Enterprises. All the sectoral indices are trading in the green with auto, FMCG, realty, power, telecom up 1% each. Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices up 0.7% each.

Among the top gainers on the index were Maruti Suzuki India, Coal India, Tech Mahindra, ITC Limited, and Reliance Industries. On the downside, InterGlobe Aviation, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, NTPC, ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finserv were among the key laggards.

Closing Bell: Market fails to hold gains, end lower amid late selling
Biggest Nifty losers were HDFC Bank, ONGC, HDFC Life, Titan Company, Apollo Hospitals, while gainers included Hindalco Industries, Trent, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Eternal. Among sectors, IT, capital goods and metal indices gained 1% each, while auto, bank, oil & gas ended lower. The Nifty midcap index rose 0.6 percent and smallcap index added nearly 1 percent.

Broader indices were mixed, as the Nifty Midcap index gained 0.5 percent, whereas the Smallcap index closed slightly in the red.

Biggest Nifty losers were Eicher Motors, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, while gainers included Coal India, Jio Financial, Adani Enterprises, NTPC, Power Grid Corp. Among sectors, Auto index slipped more than 3%, FMCG index shed 1.7% and Private Bank index declined 1.6%, while Power index gained 2.5%, Energy index rose 2%, Oil & Gas, Metal, Capital Goods rose 0.5% each. The BSE midcap index fell 0.4% and smallcap index shed 0.7%.
