Mcap of 6 most valued firms surges by ₹74,111 cr, Reliance biggest winner

The combined market valuation of 6 of the top-10 most valued firms surged by Rs 74,111.57 crore last week, with Reliance Industries emerging as the biggest gainer. Last week, the BSE benchmark climbed 177.36 points, or 0.23 per cent. "Markets ended the week with marginal gains amid a highly volatile and range-bound trading environment. Benchmark indices witnessed sharp intraday swings throughout the week, driven by persistent rupee weakness, mixed global cues, sectoral rotation, and continued uncertainty around inflation and interest rates," Ajit Mishra SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said. From the top-10 pack, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) were the gainers, while HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India and Hindustan Unilever faced erosion from their valuation. Reliance Industries added Rs 24,696.89 crore, taking its market valuation to Rs 18,33,117.70 ...

Sensex, Nifty end lower amid weak global cues

The key equity indices ended marginally lower on Thursday as reports of possible RBI intervention to defend the rupee unnerved investors. Reports indicated that the Reserve Bank of India is considering a range of measures to stabilise the currency, including a rate hike, additional currency swaps and raising dollars from overseas investors. Persistent FII selling and profit booking at elevated valuations further weighed on sentiment, while weak global cues added to the pressure. The Nifty slipped below the 23,700 mark, dragged down by steep losses in IT and FMCG stocks.

Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: GIFT Nifty trades over 130 points higher; Jubilant Foodworks in focus

Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: The bulls would hope for a replica of last night's rally on Wall Street, taking cues from some easing in bond yields and a fall in oil prices, even though nothing concrete has emerged from West Asia just yet. For the Nifty Bank, the 53,000 - 54,000 range remains, even as the index remains choppy.

Banks seek RBI relief on InvIT lending rules, warn 3-yr track record rule may slow infra monetisation & fresh funding

Banks have asked the Reserve Bank of India to relax new lending rules for Infrastructure Investment Trusts. The proposed three-year operational track record requirement could delay infrastructure monetisation and new project funding. Lenders prefer asset quality over trust age for financing eligibility. This change aims to ensure smoother fund recycling and attract global investors for new infrastructure projects.

Keeping close vigil on supply shock, impact on inflation, says RBI Guv Malhotra

The Reserve Bank is keeping a close vigil on whether and when supply shocks get embedded in the general price level, warranting monetary policy action, Governor Sanjay Malhotra has said amid persisting global uncertainties. Malhotra said the RBI has been maintaining a neutral stance since June 2025, which gives it the flexibility to remain nimble in approach and respond judiciously to incoming data and information. During a panel discussion titled 'Monetary Policy in a Time of Heightened Uncertainty' jointly organised by the Swiss National Bank (SNB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Switzerland last week, the governor said India is used to frequent supply shocks. Faced with supply shocks and uncertainty, it is important that policy frameworks focused on price stability are flexible enough to allow central banks to look through transitory shocks while remaining agile and nimble, maintaining a broad policy stance, and avoid making firm commitments on the future path of ...

Nifty Bank falls 500 points as PNB, Canara Bank, SBI, other stocks decline up to 3%. What lies ahead?

Indian bank stocks tumbled, dragging the Nifty Bank index down as a weakening rupee and rising global bond yields soured market sentiment. Several major banks saw significant declines, with analysts pointing to key technical levels. The rupee hit an all-time low against the dollar, exacerbating concerns for the financial sector.

Nifty closed at 23,690 on Thursday. IT shares faced pressure from global AI competition. Markets will watch West Asia conflict, energy prices, and foreign fund flows. A move above 23,800 could boost Nifty higher. Failure to hold this level may bring selling pressure. India VIX fell. SAIL and Kaynes are in F&O ban. Foreign investors bought shares.
