Indian markets staged a sharp recovery from intraday lows, with the Sensex recovering nearly 700 points and the Nifty clawing back over 200 points. Despite the rebound, IT stocks remained under pressure, while auto and PSU banks outperformed. Investors continued to track rising oil prices, with Brent crude nearing the $100 per barrel mark. Closing Bell: Nifty above 23,100, Sensex gain 509 pts; IT, metal, realty shine
Biggest Nifty gainers were Wipro, Hindalco Industries, HCL Technologies, TCS, Infosys, while losers included Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Adani Enterprises, Interglobe Aviatoion, Apollo Hospitals, Adani Ports. Except Consumer Durables and PSU Bank, all other sectoral indices ended in the green with Information Technology rose 2.5%, Metal index gained 1.5%, Realty index up 1.7% and Media index jumped 1%. The Nifty midcap index was up 0.3 percent, while smallcap index ended flat.
Axis MF, SBI MF buy 2.1% stake in DOMS; HDFC Life Insurance almost exits Finolex Industries
SBI Mutual Fund held 5.88 percent stake in DOMS Industries, and Axis Mutual Fund 3.18 percent, while FILA owned 26.01 percent shares, as of March 2026.

Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Indian benchmark indices bounced back on March 20 with Nifty50 index reclaiming 23300 amid falling crude oil prices on hopes of de-escalation in the Middle East. All the sectoral indices are trading in the green with metal, power, PSU Bank, IT indices jumped 2-3%. Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap indices rose 1-2% each.

Except IT, all other sectoral indices ended in the red, with Infra, PSU Bank, Realty, Media, Oil & gas, Auto, Metal down 2-4%. Nifty Midcap and smallcap indices down 2% each. Tata Steel, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, SBI Life Insurance, L&T, JSW Steel were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers included Coal India, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Tech Mahindra.

Bharat Electronics, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki were among major gainers on the Sensex, while losers were Power Grid Corporation, Trent, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and Eternal. Among sectors, auto, pharma, oil & gas, PSU Bank telecom, metal added 0.4-1%, while media index shed 0.7%. Nifty Midcap index rose 0.6%, while smallcap index ended flat.
