INR collapses to fresh record low

The Indian rupee is seen collapsing to new record lows against the dollar in opening trades on Tuesday amid rebound in oil prices and dollar index edging higher. US President Donald Trump reportedly said that the ceasefire with Iran was on life support with hopes for a deal with the country fading, triggering a surge in crude oil prices. Market sentiments remained dominated by fears that the 10-week-old conflict could further tighten global supply, particularly after Trump rejected Tehran's latest response to a US-backed peace proposal, calling it totally unacceptable. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95.57 against the US dollar and then fell further to an all-time low of 95.63 against the greenback, down 35 paise from its previous close.

Change in politics, not geopolitics: Markets to focus on US-Iran conflict as state election dust settles, says Kotak

Indian stock markets will likely ignore recent state election outcomes. Instead, investors will focus on global geopolitical risks and corporate earnings. The central government's agenda is expected to remain largely unaffected. Geopolitical concerns, particularly the West Asia conflict and its impact on crude oil prices, are a primary focus. Corporate earnings have been decent, supporting the market.

Why is market falling today? Sensex slumps 1,200 pts, Nifty below 23,850; 7 key triggers behind bloodbath

Indian stock markets experienced a significant downturn on Thursday, with Sensex and Nifty dropping over 1% each. Soaring oil prices to historic levels, a plunging rupee to an all-time low, and sustained foreign investor selling contributed to the broad-based selloff, erasing nearly Rs 9 lakh crore from market capitalization.

INR falls near record low levels hurt by elevated oil prices

The Indian rupee depreciated 14 paise to close near its all-time low at 94.82 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday, pressured by rising crude oil prices, hovering well above $100 per barrel, and continued foreign capital outflows. Brent crude prices climbed toward $115 a barrel today, hitting a four-year high on mounting uncertainty around global supply amid the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Elevated crude oil price is likely to sharply impact India's import costs, while the ongoing West Asia crisis and concerns over potential wider conflict are fuelling investor anxiety. Meanwhile, Indian shares rose notably on Wednesday despite mixed cues from global markets and growing anxiety over surging energy prices, capping downside in the counter. Sensex settled 609.45 points (0.79%) higher at 77,496.36 while Nifty 50 advanced 181.95 points (0.76%) to close at 24,177.65. Investors are also awaiting cues from the upcoming US Federal Reserve policy decision as dollar ..

INR slips back beyond Rs 93 per dollar mark amid volatile geopolitical situation; RBI in focus

The Indian rupee depreciated around 20 paise to close beyond Rs 93 mark against the US dollar on Tuesday, as investors remained on edge ahead of US President Donald Trump's deadline for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the Reserve Bank's monetary policy review. The USD/INR pair is trading under pressure, dragged down by unabated withdrawal of foreign capital, a firm dollar, and higher crude oil prices amid a volatile geopolitical situation. Nevertheless, Indian shares recovered from an early slide to end notably higher on Tuesday as the clock ticked towards a deadline that U.S. President Donald Trump has set to bomb Iranian power plants if it does not open the Strait of Hormuz. Benchmark indexes Sensex and Nifty extended gains for a fourth consecutive session despite Trump describing a "significant proposal" received from Iran as "not good enough" and threatening to decimate Iran within four hours if it did not agree to a deal by Tuesday night. Moreover, market participants ...

INR settles at new lifetime low as soaring oil prices dampen sentiments

The Indian rupee declined 14 paise to settle at an all-time low of 92.42 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, pressured by rising crude oil prices and sustained outflow of foreign funds amid the West Asia crisis. A positive trend in domestic equity markets also helped the domestic currency at the lower level, even as investors remained watchful of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. Indian stock markets closed significantly higher for the second consecutive session, driven by gains in auto and metal sectors despite volatility. The Sensex jumped 568 points (0.75%) to close at 76,071, while the Nifty 50 added over 172 points (0.74%) to end at 23,581, rebounding after recent sharp losses. At the interbank foreign exchange, the local unit opened at 92.35 and hit the lowest intra-day level of 92.47 against the greenback. The unit finally ended at a new lifetime low of 92.42.
