INR crashes to fresh record low as oil surges past $100 mark amid Middle East tensions

The Indian rupee crashed to its all-time closing low of 92.35 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, losing 53 paise during the session, as global crude oil prices saw a sharp spike, and the greenback strengthened amid worsening conflict in the Middle East. What Iran war means for Vedanta, Tata Steel and other metal stocks? CLSA analysts explain

Rising tensions in the Iran war could reshape the outlook for Indian metal stocks, with CLSA flagging Vedanta as a key beneficiary due to its aluminium, zinc and oil exposure. Tata Steel may also gain from stronger steel spreads, while energy costs, freight disruptions and geopolitical risk could keep commodity prices elevated.

LIVE: Brent Oil Falls, Fed Decision Tonight | Nifty Set for Positive Start | Opening Bell

Brent crude prices are under pressure amid expectations that Iran could resume oil exports, easing concerns around global energy supplies. Investors are also closely tracking the outcome of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy meeting, where interest rates are widely expected to remain unchanged. Wall Street ended mixed overnight, with the Dow Jones hitting a fresh record high while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 closed lower. SpaceX continued its post-IPO rally, gaining 4% and trading nearly 50% above its offer price. Back home, Indian markets ended near the day's highs on Tuesday, with the Nifty extending gains for a third consecutive session and closing above 23,950. While FIIs remained net sellers, easing oil prices, lower bond yields, and positive global cues could support a firm start for Indian equities today.
