Crude oil surge impact: Auto, metal shares plunge up to 4.5%; Tata Motors PV, M&M, JSW Steel lead losses
Auto stocks also remained under pressure, with all 15 constituents of the Nifty Auto index trading lower.

Except IT, all other sectoral indices ended in the red, with Infra, PSU Bank, Realty, Media, Oil & gas, Auto, Metal down 2-4%. Nifty Midcap and smallcap indices down 2% each. Tata Steel, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, SBI Life Insurance, L&T, JSW Steel were among major losers on the Nifty, while gainers included Coal India, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Tech Mahindra.

Except metals, all other sectoral indices ended lower with Auto, Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas down 2 percent each. The Nifty midcap and smallcap indices fell 1.5 percent each.
