Tata Motors PV shares plunge 10% after weaker than expected JLR FY27 guidance

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles shares dropped significantly. This followed Jaguar Land Rover's investor day where its financial outlook for fiscal year 2027 was revealed. Profitability guidance fell short of analyst expectations. JLR projects revenue growth and improved EBIT margins. North America remains a key focus for future growth. The company plans to invest in new segments and high-potential markets.

Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors and other CV stocks soar up to 9%. What’s triggering the surge?

US and Iran have reached an initial peace agreement to end their nearly four-month conflict, restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and ease global energy disruptions. The deal, to be signed in Switzerland on June 19, also covers broader regional issues including Lebanon. This development has boosted market sentiment as oil supply concerns begin to ease.

Chola Securities sees buying opportunity in metals and cement stocks

Dharmesh Kant, Head of Research at Chola Securities, expects the commodity upcycle to continue for another year despite near-term volatility. He sees any correction in metal prices as a long-term buying opportunity, supported by reconstruction activity in the Middle East and a revival in infrastructure spending in countries such as India. Kant remains positive on metals and prefers Hindalco, Hindustan Zinc, Vedanta, Tata Steel and JSW Steel on declines. He also believes the cement sector has been overlooked and favours large-cap names like UltraTech Cement and Ambuja Cements, while regional players could benefit from improving pricing over the next two to three months. Mcap of 8 most valued firms surges by ₹1.90 trn, ICICI Bank shines

The combined market valuation of eight of the top-10 most valued firms surged by Rs 1.90 lakh crore last week, with ICICI Bank stealing the show, in tandem with a rally in equities. Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 1,284.61 points, or 1.73 per cent, and the NSE Nifty surged 256.2 points, or 1 per cent. "Indian equity markets ended a volatile week on a strong note, snapping a two-week losing streak amid improving global sentiment and supportive measures from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) aimed at attracting foreign currency inflows," Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said. Investor confidence improved on optimism surrounding a potential USIran peace deal, which raised hopes of easing geopolitical tensions and stabilising energy markets, he added. From the top-10 pack, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro and Hindustan Unilever were the winners, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
