What also needs to be monitored going into Tuesday's NSE weekly expiry is that for how long will the IT stocks keep piggy-backing on a weak rupee. It was IT that led the recovery on Monday before HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries and other heavyweights also stepped up to play their part.

INR slumps to fresh record lows amid rising oil prices fuelled by ongoing geopolitical tensions

The Indian rupee weakened further and closed at a record low of 96.35 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, pressured by rising crude oil prices on the back of ongoing geopolitical tensions and a strong dollar. During the day, the counter hit a low of 96.39. The global market sentiments continue to dampen amid simmering tensions between the US and Iran. Moreover, emerging market economies, including India, continue to feel the pressure of rising crude oil prices, as elevated rates increase the outflows of US dollars, along with the outflows already happening due to FPIs. Meanwhile, Indian shares ended little changed on Monday, after having suffered heavy losses earlier in the session on rising Middle East tensions and economic concerns. The benchmark BSE Sensex rebounded over 1,100 points from the day's lows before closing 77.05 points, or 0.10 percent, higher at 75,315.04.The NSE Nifty index also fell up to 1.3 percent in early trading before recovering to close up 6.45 ...

Market Trading Guide: 2 stock ideas for Monday with up to 8% near-term gains

Nifty ended lower on Friday, breaking a two-session winning streak as banking, metal and realty stocks dragged the index below the 23,800 zone. Analysts see a bearish setup with resistance at key EMAs and support near 23,500. Amid volatility, two technical stock picks, Kirloskar Oil and Wheels India, signal short-term upside potential of up to 8% with defined stop losses.

Mcap of 9 top valued firms erodes by ₹3.12 trn, Reliance biggest laggard

The combined market valuation of nine of the top 10 valued firms eroded by Rs 3.12 lakh crore last week, with Reliance Industries taking the biggest hit. Last week, the 30-share BSE Sensex plunged by 2,090.2 points, or 2.7 per cent, while the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 532.65 points, or 2.2 per cent. "Markets ended the week lower, breaking out of their three-week consolidation phase amid lingering geopolitical tensions in West Asia, persistent weakness in the rupee, and rising inflationary concerns," Ajit Mishra SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said. The sharp rise in crude oil prices above the USD 105-per-barrel mark intensified worries over imported inflation, fiscal stress, and pressure on corporate margins, he said. From the top-10 pack, Bharti Airtel emerged as the only winner. The market valuation of Reliance Industries tumbled Rs 1,34,445.77 crore to Rs 18,08,420.81 crore. State Bank of India's valuation eroded by Rs 52,245.3 crore to Rs 8,88,862.32 crore. The valua
