Nifty recovers 200 points from intra-day lows; IT continues outperformance | Closing Bell
Indian equities erased all the intraday losses with Nifty back above 23,500. TCS, Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Trent are among top gainers on the Nifty, while losers are NTPC, Power Grid Corp, Cipla, Dr Reddy's Labs and L&T. Among sectors IT index up 4%, while auto, metal, Consumer Durables, realty up 0.5% each. However, pharma, healthcare, power, media, energy down 0.5-1%. Interglobe Aviation, Max Healthcare, Power Grid Corp, Wipro, Eternal were among biggest gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank. All the sectoral indices ended in the green with Capital Goods, Oil & Gas, Power, Infra, Media, Realty, Consumer Durables, IT rise 2% each. Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices up more than 2 percent each.

Indian equities traded on a subdued note on Thursday afternoon, with benchmark indices hovering around the flatline after early volatility. At 2:20 pm, the Sensex was up 11.40 points at 74,357.57, while the Nifty gained 11.30 points to 23,416.90. Market breadth remained positive, with 2,076 stocks advancing against 1,689 declines. Consumer durables, auto and energy stocks supported the market, while weakness in information technology and metal shares capped gains. Broader markets continued to outperform, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices rising around 0.7 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively.Catch Lovish Darad in conversation with Market Experts.
Closing Bell: Nifty above 23,100, Sensex gain 509 pts; IT, metal, realty shine
Biggest Nifty gainers were Wipro, Hindalco Industries, HCL Technologies, TCS, Infosys, while losers included Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Adani Enterprises, Interglobe Aviatoion, Apollo Hospitals, Adani Ports. Except Consumer Durables and PSU Bank, all other sectoral indices ended in the green with Information Technology rose 2.5%, Metal index gained 1.5%, Realty index up 1.7% and Media index jumped 1%. The Nifty midcap index was up 0.3 percent, while smallcap index ended flat.

Biggest Nifty losers were Eicher Motors, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, while gainers included Coal India, Jio Financial, Adani Enterprises, NTPC, Power Grid Corp. Among sectors, Auto index slipped more than 3%, FMCG index shed 1.7% and Private Bank index declined 1.6%, while Power index gained 2.5%, Energy index rose 2%, Oil & Gas, Metal, Capital Goods rose 0.5% each. The BSE midcap index fell 0.4% and smallcap index shed 0.7%.
