Closing Bell: Nifty above 23,100, Sensex gain 509 pts; IT, metal, realty shine
Biggest Nifty gainers were Wipro, Hindalco Industries, HCL Technologies, TCS, Infosys, while losers included Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Adani Enterprises, Interglobe Aviatoion, Apollo Hospitals, Adani Ports. Except Consumer Durables and PSU Bank, all other sectoral indices ended in the green with Information Technology rose 2.5%, Metal index gained 1.5%, Realty index up 1.7% and Media index jumped 1%. The Nifty midcap index was up 0.3 percent, while smallcap index ended flat.

At 2:20 pm, the Sensex was up 11.40 points at 74,357.57, while the Nifty gained 11.30 points to 23,416.90. Market breadth remained positive, with 2,076 stocks advancing against 1,689 declines. Consumer durables, auto and energy stocks supported the market, while weakness in information technology and metal shares capped gains. Closing Bell: Market dives as crude climbs; Sensex slides 829 pts, Nifty below 23,700
Biggest Nifty losers were Eicher Motors, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, while gainers included Coal India, Jio Financial, Adani Enterprises, NTPC, Power Grid Corp. Among sectors, Auto index slipped more than 3%, FMCG index shed 1.7% and Private Bank index declined 1.6%, while Power index gained 2.5%, Energy index rose 2%, Oil & Gas, Metal, Capital Goods rose 0.5% each. The BSE midcap index fell 0.4% and smallcap index shed 0.7%.
