BofA sees FY27 earnings growth slowing to 8.5%; capex outlook stays strong

Amish Shah, Head of India Research at Bank of America Global Research, said higher commodity prices, the West Asia conflict and rising inflation could put pressure on growth and earnings in the first half of FY27. However, he believes the government is unlikely to reduce capital expenditure despite fiscal concerns. Shah also highlighted long-term opportunities in sectors linked to energy security, electric vehicles, defence, AI investments and data centres.

Devang Mehta prefers capital market stocks over IT sector

Devang Mehta, Deputy MD & CIO-Equity at Spark Private Wealth Management, said India’s ongoing shift toward investing through mutual funds, PMS, wealth managers and capital market platforms offers a long-term growth opportunity. While remaining cautious on large-cap IT stocks due to weak growth visibility, he prefers capital market-linked businesses, power automation, engineering, manufacturing and discretionary consumption sectors, citing their potential to benefit from structural trends over the next three to five years. Kotak’s Nilesh Shah calls for easier access to India for global investors through GIFT City

Nilesh Shah, Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra AMC, said India should enable omnibus investment structures through GIFT City to make investing easier for global investors and NRIs. Speaking alongside industry leaders including Navneet Munot, MD & CEO of HDFC AMC, Shah argued that requiring individual PAN registration creates friction for overseas investors. Primary market to pick up as CMR Green, Hexagon Nutrition to launch IPOs

The primary market will see some activity next week, with two companies - CMR Green Technologies and Hexagon Nutrition - slated to launch their initial public offerings (IPOs) collectively valued at nearly Rs 770 crore. As both the issues are entirely offer for sale (OFS), the companies will not receive any proceeds from the public offerings, with the entire amount going to the selling shareholders. The upcoming offerings come at a time when the primary market has witnessed subdued activity amid persistent market volatility and global uncertainties. Although several companies have received regulatory clearances in recent weeks, many have deferred their listing plans due to uncertain market conditions. So far in 2026, around 20 companies, including Fractal Analytics, Shadowfax Technologies and Bharat Coking Coal, have tapped the capital markets through main-board initial public offerings. The IPO of CMR Green Technologies, a non-ferrous metal recycler, will open for public subscript

Power and defence stocks still have long-term growth runway: PL Capital

Amnish Aggarwal, Director Institutional Research at PL Capital, says rising fuel prices, inflation and El Niño risks could slow credit growth in the coming quarters, even though stress signs are not yet visible in the economy. He remains constructive on defence and power-linked stocks over the long term due to strong order books and infrastructure demand, while cautioning that valuations across several sectors have already turned expensive.
