The combined market valuation of 6 of the top-10 most valued firms surged by Rs 74,111.57 crore last week, with Reliance Industries emerging as the biggest gainer. Last week, the BSE benchmark climbed 177.36 points, or 0.23 per cent. "Markets ended the week with marginal gains amid a highly volatile and range-bound trading environment. Benchmark indices witnessed sharp intraday swings throughout the week, driven by persistent rupee weakness, mixed global cues, sectoral rotation, and continued uncertainty around inflation and interest rates," Ajit Mishra SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd, said. From the top-10 pack, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) were the gainers, while HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India and Hindustan Unilever faced erosion from their valuation. INR rebounds under Rs 96/$ mark tracking positive cues from local equities

The NIFTY 50 and BSE Sensex settled higher, with the Sensex up 231.99 points (0.31%) to end at 75,415.35 and the NIFTY adding 64.60 points (0.27%) to close at 23,719.30.

SBI staff threatens to go on two-day nationwide strike from May 25

RBI likely to pay a big dividend to Centre
Economists estimate the surplus transfer-often referred to as the central bank's dividend to the government-in the range of Rs 2.7 lakh crore to Rs 3 lakh crore. In the FY27 Union Budget, the government has estimated Rs 3.16 lakh crore in dividends from state-owned companies and surplus transfers from the central bank.
