Taking Stock: Sensex, Nifty end flat ahead of RBI policy; consumer durables, capital goods shine
More than 120 stocks touched their 52-week high on the BSE, including Cemindia Projects, Nippon Life India Asset Management, Jindal Saw, HFCL, Syrma SGS, Laurus Labs, Polycab, Vodafone Idea, Federal Bank, IFCI, JK Bank, Welspun Corp, RBL Bank, among others.
Closing Bell: Nifty below 25,200, Sensex tanks 961 pts; realty, metal, FMCG top drag
Nifty Midcap and smallcap indices down 1% each. Dr Reddy's Labs, Bharti Airtel, M&M, HDFC Life, Sun Pharma were among the top drags on the Nifty, while gainers were Trent, HCL Tech, Infosys, Apollo Hospitals. Among sectors, auto, bank, FMCG, metal, realty, telecom shed 1-2%, while IT, media, consumer durables ended in the green.
Taking Stock: Nifty reclaims 23,400, Sensex ends 304 pts lower; IT drags
Among sectors, IT index shed 5.5%, FMCG, realty slipped 1% each, and Consumer Durables fell 0.8%, while Telecom index rose 2%, PSU Bank index jumped 1.7%, healthcare index was up 0.5% each.

Bharat Electronics, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki were among major gainers on the Sensex, while losers were Power Grid Corporation, Trent, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and Eternal. Among sectors, auto, pharma, oil & gas, PSU Bank telecom, metal added 0.4-1%, while media index shed 0.7%. Nifty Midcap index rose 0.6%, while smallcap index ended flat.

Biggest Nifty gainers M&M, Grasim Industries, Trent, UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finance, while losers are Bharat Electronics, Wipro, Max Healthcare, Sun Pharma, Coal India. On the sectoral front, auto, bank, FMCG up 0.5-1%, while media, oil & gas, pharma, realty, capital goods down 0.5-2%. Nifty Midcap index is trading flat, while smallcap index down 0.5%.
